报告摘要:
In the past several decades, crystalline polarization theory has been a corner stone in solid state physics, giving rise to various topological invariants including that for the prototype of Z2 time-reversal symmetric topological insulators found in 2004. In this talk, I will show how to generalize it to a strongly driven dynamical situation transcending conventional static scenarios. Such a generalization qualitatively expands the study of higher-order topological insulators into the "anomalous Floquet" regime, where all bands are trivial while the spacetime-dependent topology results in dynamical corner modes. The new mathematical framework and physical pictures found in anomalous dynamical polarization theory open the door to investigating topological invariants in a wide class of strongly driven system.
