报告摘要

Scattering amplitudes provide a powerful language for both uncovering hidden structures in quantum field theory and making precision predictions in gravitational physics. My research develops this connection in two directions: amplitude bootstrap in highly symmetric theories such as N=4 super Yang-Mills and ABJM theory, and applications to gravitational-wave physics. In this talk, I will focus on the latter, using scattering amplitudes to derive analytic predictions for the relativistic two-body problem. I will describe how scattering amplitudes can be used to extract classical gravitational dynamics from quantum scattering data, focusing on binary-black-hole observables such as momentum impulse, waveform, and spin kick. The main example will be a generating-function formalism based on the logarithm of the S-matrix, which incorporates both conservative and radiative effects and is particularly useful for spinning black holes. I will close by discussing analytic continuation to bound-state dynamics and the broader role of amplitude methods in gravitational-wave theory.

Canxin Shi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his doctoral degree in 2022 from Humboldt University in Berlin. His research focuses on theoretical high-energy theory, specializing in scattering amplitudes and the analytic aspect of gravitational wave physics of black hole mergers.
