报告摘要:
The discovery and the current measurements of the SM Higgs boson at the LHC indicate an intrinsic problem of the flavor sector. This is deeply related to the origin of three generations in and beyond the SM. In this talk, I motivate a study of the flavor unification beyond the minimal SU(5) Georgi-Glashow model, where the SM flavors can be embedded non-trivially. The realistic symmetry breaking pattern is crucial to understand the origin of the observed SM fermion masses. We conjectured a modified third law of Georgi's 1979 efforts in such model building, and utilized the emergent global symmetries to generate additional EWSB VEVs for the light SM fermions other than the top quark. Some phenomenological implications will be described.
