报告摘要:
Magnetic quivers have recently been introduced to described Higgs branches of theories with 8 supercharges in dimension 4 to 6. Starting in dimension d=5 or 6, the Higgs branch of the low-energy effective theory may in many cases be described by a hyper-Kahler quotient, and is argued to be classically exact. However, the Higgs branch at the conformal fixed point is generically enlarged due to tensionless strings in 6d or instanton operators in 5d. Hence, a different description for such "Higgs branches at infinite coupling" is required. Focusing on theories realised via branes in Type II string theory, we proposed that a so-called "magnetic quiver" can be derived for each phase of the theory, which allows to described the corresponding Higgs branches in a concise and effective manner. Building on this approach, the magnetic quivers of a large class of 4d N=2 SCFTs can also be derived by tracing their origins from 5d or 6d theories. In this talk, I will outline the magnetic quiver approach and exemplify key results. If time permits, I will briefly discuss Higgs branch Hasse diagrams, their relation with symplectic singularities and their derivation via magnetic quivers.
